LOS ANGELES — The LAPD has released surveillance video of a shootout that occurred after a suspect opened fire at officers, KABC reported.
The Feb. 20 incident occurred when officers responded to a call from a person who said their neighbor had pointed a gun at them, according to the report. Surveillance video shows officers setting up outside of an apartment door when Anthony Franks, 42, opened the door and fired several shots from a weapon that looked like a handgun.
Officers fired several shots back at Franks but did not hit him. Officers were able to reach Franks on the phone and persuade him to surrender without further incident, according to the report.
After an investigation, officers determined that Franks’s weapon was a projectile launcher, which he had used to fire rubber bullets at officers. No one was injured in the incident, according to the report.
