DALLAS — The Dallas Police Department and the City of Dallas hope that a heartbreaking new documentary featuring stories of the July 7, 2016 ambush will provide some healing and closure to those who watch.
The documentary features stories from first responders who were on the scene and the family members of the five officers who were killed in the line of duty that night. First-hand accounts of the chaotic scene paint a chilling picture for the viewing audience.
Over 30 hours of footage was edited down to form the hour-long film, which was shown first to the families of the fallen officers at the 2017 memorial.
“This video provided an outlet for several of the officers involved in the incident and the family members of the fallen to speak out and tell their stories,” PIO Debra Webb told Police1. “We know that we were only able to scratch the surface with these interviews since the case still has not gone to the grand jury, but the hope is that the video will provide some healing and closure to those who watch.”
