GEORGETOWN, Del.— A man has been convicted of beating a Delmar police officer to death in 2021 and assaulting an elderly couple, WBOC reported.

Officer Keith Heacook was killed in April 2021 while responding to a fight in a Delmar home. According to the report, body camera footage presented in court shows other officers arriving at the scene to find Heacook bludgeoned and lying in a pool of blood.

“Cpl. Keith Heacook served his department and his community honorably and faithfully for more than two decades,” Del. Attorney General Kathy Jennings said. “He was stolen from us far too soon.”

Witnesses reported they saw Randon Wilkerson, 32, stomping repeatedly on Heacook’s head. Heacook’s DNA was found on a dumbbell inside the home, according to the report.

Wilkerson waived his right to a jury trial. He was convicted on charges including two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault and terroristic threatening, 10 Philadelphia reported. He will serve the rest of his life in prison.
