OCALA, Fla. — A 16-year-old was arrested Monday after fleeing from deputies and concealing a rifle under his shirt.
The incident occurred when a Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy encountered a vehicle speeding with dark tinted windows and a non-functioning right brake light, FOX35Orlando.com reported.
The vehicle “appeared like it was attempting to evade” the deputy, according to an affidavit. The driver turned into a shopping center, where the 16-year-old suspect exited the car and ran into a Family Dollar store.
Bodycam footage shows the deputy and the teen in a scuffle, during which a hidden rifle was revealed under the suspect’s shirt.
“Drop the gun, drop it. Stop playing,” the deputy says.
The suspect, who is considered a delinquent felon under Florida law, was booked into jail with no bond and is facing several felony charges.
In the vehicle, deputies found a backpack containing drugs that appeared to be packaged for sale. The 16-year-old claimed ownership of the backpack but denied possession of the gun.
