MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas — A 27-year-old man is accused of shooting three people inside a bar before being stopped and detained by bystanders, Texas authorities say.

Deputies responded to the shooting at The Goose’s Acre, a pub in The Woodlands community, shortly after midnight on Sunday, Feb. 23 , the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies arrived to find three people with gunshot wounds — two men ages 31 and 29 and a woman aged 27.

The accused shooter, who the sheriff’s office has not publicly identified, also sustained injuries, not from gunfire but from the bystanders who detained him until deputies arrived.

“Witnesses on scene quickly provided medical aid, and all three individuals were transported to local hospitals for treatment,” the sheriff’s office said. “The suspect, a 27-year-old-male from Houston , was also transported to a different local hospital for treatment due to injuries he sustained from by-standers who detained him for law enforcement, after the shooting.”

One of the victims, a 29-year-old man, was shot five times in the chest, investigators told KRIV. The other man was shot once in the arm, and the woman was shot multiple times.

Deputies are investigating the shooting and working to determine a possible motive.

“We understand that situations like this create fear and uncertainty in our community, and we want to reassure the public that we are fully committed to maintaining safety and holding the suspect accountable,” the office said.

Anyone with information related to the case, or video of the incident, is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 936-760-5876.

The Woodlands is a roughly 30-mile drive north from Houston .
