DALLAS — A Dallas Police Department sergeant has been charged with the theft of three firearms from the department after turning himself in, WFAA reported.

Sgt. Thomas Fry, a 22-year veteran of the department who is currently on injury leave, surrendered to authorities on April 8. The charges against him are classified as a state jail felony.

The department’s Public Integrity Unit initiated an investigation on October 10, 2022, which revealed that Fry had taken three duty firearms from the Southeast Patrol Division, his assignment at the time. Details of the investigation remain limited.

The Dallas Police Department confirmed that the inquiry into Fry’s actions is still in progress, according to the report.
