VANCOUVER, Wash.— A Vancouver man was taken into custody after a two-hour standoff with SWAT teams that involved him half-naked and playing the banjo for officers, KPTV reported.
Officers were called to the scene July 26 when neighbors reported seeing a knife-wielding naked man, identified as Andrew Helmsworth.
Helmsworth had gotten into an argument with his father and while his father escaped the house, Helmsworth locked himself inside. When cops arrived, Helmsworth came out of the house holding a banjo that he proceeded to play for officers.
As Helmsworth tried to retreat back into the house, officers shot him with a non-lethal bullet.
Helmsworth was arrested on a charge of felony assault.
