LOS ANGELES — A suspect in a robbery and auto theft led officers with the Los Angeles Police Department on a slow-speed pursuit in a golf cart, KABC reports.
Officers received a call just after 9 p.m. Sunday about a golf car that had been stolen at knifepoint.
Video shows the man driving a golf cart with the word “security” on the side. The man, who had a dog on his lap, drove the golf cart through multiple lanes of traffic as marked cruisers trailed him.
After about 10 miles, the man got off the golf cart and attempted to flee from police on foot while carrying the dog. Officers caught up with the man in a parking lot and took him into custody.
Officers placed the dog in the back of a cruiser and took it to an animal shelter.
The pursuit reached speeds of about 19 miles per hour, police said.
“Don’t drink, don’t do drugs, be a better person,” the man said as he was getting into a cruiser, KTLA reports.
