ATLANTA — Former NBA star Shaquille O’Neal has hardly been idle since his playing career ended in 2011. Since then, the 7-foot-1, 15-time All-Star has been an active investor and is currently an analyst for TNT’s “Inside the NBA.”
In the next few years, Shaq looks to add a new title to his résumé: Sheriff.
Shaq plans to run for the position in 2020, he told Atlanta’s WXIA on Friday, but has not made up his mind on which county.
“This is not about politics,” Shaq told WXIA. “This is about bringing people closer together.”
His interest in law enforcement is well-documented. In 2015 Shaq was given a badge in Doral, Fla., and in December he was sworn in as a sheriff’s deputy in Georgia’s Clayton County in December, a position that’s been mostly honorary.
