DELAWARE, Ohio — A former Perry Township police officer who made the news for an intimate act in a police cruiser is now tied to an investigation over a similar incident.

Janine England was fired in 2009 after being caught on dash cam kissing her boss, who was the police chief at the time, NBC4i reported. She is now known as Janine Senanayake and is a deputy with the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, which is under investigation for the sheriff’s actions during a trip last summer.

While attending FBI training in Quantico, Va., Sheriff Walter Davis allegedly used taxpayer funds for personal use, including arranging meetings with Senanayake and paying for meals for himself.

According to receipts provided by the Delaware Gazette, the sheriff’s car was parked at the Marriott where Senanayake was staying. If Davis, who is married, spent money on the deputy, it would be classified as a misuse of funds.

The Ohio Attorney General’s office confirmed it is investigating the claims.

In Delaware County, rules against supervisors’ romantic involvement with subordinates do not apply to the sheriff.
