ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. — One sheriff in Colorado has found a creative way to connect with his community: by bringing them along on his patrol shift – virtually, that is.

Adams County Sheriff Rick Reigenborn told KDVR that he was inspired to start livestreaming his Saturday night shift after seeing a Minnesota sheriff do something similar. Reigenborn points a camera at his windshield and just hits record on his Facebook Live.

“Jump in the back seat, grab your Pepsi, grab your popcorn, don’t make a mess and come see what we do from the front seat of the sheriff’s car,” Reigenborn said.

Reigenborn has been livestreaming weekly since New Year’s, but he gained more attention last week when a pursuit was caught live on camera. The suspect was eventually arrested.

“They get to see what we’re doing on a nightly basis on Saturday night,” he said.

When he’s not arresting suspects, Reigenborn entertains his viewers by asking quiz questions about Adams County, according to the report. Whoever answers correctly gets a prize that Reigenborn ships to your home.
