DALLAS, Texas — A Dallas officer has been punished after buying a Chick-fil-A sandwich and bringing it to the briefing room.
Sgt. Mark Johnson bought the sandwich August 1 from Chick-fil-A, which has been under scrutiny for its CEO’s stance on traditional marriage roles. According to CBS, he arrived with the sandwich to his patrol shift and brought it to the briefing room, where words were exchanged with two lesbian officers.
The officers alleged in a complaint that Johnson embarrassed them, and the department moved him to a midnight shift. The Dallas Police Association, which represents all three officers, said they are concerned about the shift change and see it as punishment.
A department spokesperson said the issue is not the sandwich, but whether the sergeant made inappropriate comments to the female officers. The internal investigation is not yet complete.
