MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Officer Matt Larsh feels lucky to be alive. The Miami-Dade motorcycle officer was involved in a crash that sent him flying 20 feet into the air. He spent three weeks in the ICU, underwent 10 surgeries and has months of rehab ahead, reported Local 10 News.
Still, Larsh is grateful.
“I do believe God had a hand in my landing and this whole incident. When you look at it, there’s no other word for that other than miracle,” Larsh told Local 10 News.
Larsh is referring to a surveillance video that captured the horrific incident. The video shows an SUV pulling in front of Larsh as he travels through an intersection on his motorcycle. Larsh is launched through the air and lands hard on the pavement.
“My knee was fractured. My quad was severed, my bladder was ruptured, my quad, my pelvis was fractured,” Larsh said.
Although Larsh hopes to return to work, he still can’t walk and knows he has a long road to recovery. Larsh’s daughter, Jennifer, has established a GoFundMe page to raise money for his recovery.
