WASHINGTON — The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund honored 282 fallen officers during the 36th Candlelight Vigil.
The vigil, held annually during Police Week, honors fallen officers by reading aloud the new names carved in the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.
This year’s additions include 118 officers killed in the line of duty in 2023, along with 164 who died in previous years, according to an April 2 announcement. With the new names, the memorial will feature 24,067 officers from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, U.S. territories and various law enforcement agencies.
The event is free, open to the public and no registration is required. The vigil will be streamed on YouTube, Facebook and X.
