WASHINGTON — Each year, Washington D.C. hosts National Police Week, drawing law enforcement officers from across the country to honor their fallen colleagues. One of the key ceremonies during this week is the “Standing Watch for the Fallen” at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.
During this ceremony, honor guard teams from different departments take turns standing vigil in 15-minute shifts over the Memorial Wreaths used in the Fraternal Order of Police National Peace Officer Memorial Service.
In the above video, hear why attending Police Week matters from a handful of law enforcement officers and police supporters.
