WASHINGTON — In an annual tribute to their service and sacrifice, the National Police Dog Foundation is set to host the National Police K-9 Memorial Service during National Police Week on May 11, 2024 at 1 p.m. EST. The solemn ceremony, which is open to the public, will take place at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C.
It will feature a wreath and rose-laying ceremony to honor the memory of fallen police K-9s who have given their lives in the line of duty over the past year. This event serves as a poignant reminder of the brave K-9s who serve as the first line of defense alongside their human counterparts in law enforcement.
To support the ongoing needs of law enforcement agencies, the National Police Dog Foundation established the K9 Memorial Fund in 2018. This fund plays a crucial role in assisting departments that lack the necessary funds to replace their fallen K-9s.
This year, as part of our continued commitment to our heroes, Police1 will be reporting live from the heart of Washington, D.C. during National Police Week. Visit our National Police Week coverage for real-time updates, live reporting and exclusive content throughout the week.
