KING CITY, Calif. —The King City Police Department announced the unexpected death of one of its officers after an on-duty medical emergency.
Sgt. Ryan Kennedy died while on duty on March 25, according to a Facebook post. The department stated that an unspecified medical emergency “ultimately turned fatal.”
Kennedy had served the department for nearly 11 years, according to the post. He also served within the Southern County Major Crimes Unit and the King City Police Department Investigations Unit.
“Sergeant Kenedy was known by those around him as an intelligent and kind person who showed utmost care and humility towards those he worked with and served. Sergeant Kenedy was a loving and devoted husband and son. Sergeant Kenedy was universally loved by everyone he worked with, and his passing is an immeasurable loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and colleagues. Please respect the family’s privacy during this difficult time,” the department stated.
The department also extended thanks to the
Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, which sent patrol deputies in order to allow King City officers the time to mourn.
