LAFAYETTE, N.Y. — A constable with the Vienna Town Constable’s Office has died after suffering a medical emergency during training, according to the Officer Down Memorial Page.
Constable Shane Eyre, a three-year veteran of the Vienna Town Constable’s Office, died after suffering a heart attack during a Shotgun Operator Course on Sept. 30, according to the page.
At around 4:00 p.m., Eyre, 29, collapsed during the training. Life-saving measures were administered, and he was transported to a hospital. Despite efforts, Eyre could not be resuscitated.
Eyre is survived by his mother, father, two brothers and sister, according to the page.
After becoming agitated when the gas station did not have his cigarettes, the man displayed a firearm and ordered employees to lock the doors, turn off the lights and call 911
