Zanesville, Ohio — A former Zanesville police officer accused of hatching a plot to steal and sell cocaine pleaded guilty today to two of the six counts against him.
Sean Beck, 29, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine, and having a firearm during a drug crime. In exchange for his plea, the U.S. Attorney’s Office is recommending Beck spend 20 years in prison.
Beck, fellow Zanesville officer Trevor Fusner, 31, and Chad Mills II, 30, were arrested Oct.1 on charges of planning to steal a 2.2 pounds of cocaine from a Columbus drug dealer and sell it locally.
Beck and Fusner resigned from the force shortly after their arrest.
Beck had been extorting money from a drug dealer in Zanesville when he hatched the plan to lure another drug dealer from Columbus and rob him at gunpoint wearing “SWAT style” police uniforms, according to a federal affidavit.
The three were arrested after a federal investigation. Fusner and Mills both pleaded guilty in February and have been released on electronic monitoring.
They are scheduled to be sentenced June 12, and face up to 45 years in prison.
