SALT LAKE CITY — A Salt Lake City police officer who was suspended in August after a use-of-force incident involving a K-9 was criminally charged Wednesday.
According to the New York Daily News, Officer Nickolas Pearce was charged with aggravated assault in connection with the incident.
Police were called to the scene after the suspect, 36-year-old Jeffery Ryans, was heard yelling at his wife and someone called 911. Police tried to arrest Ryans because he wasn’t legally allowed to be at the home.
Prosecutors say Ryans’ leg is permanently disfigured from the attack, according to the New York Daily News.
