BURLESON, Texas -- Two Burleson police detectives were shot by a suspected bank robber Friday afternoon.
The plainclothes detectives were responding to a robbery call around 12:10 p.m. at the Well Fargo in the 400 block of E. Renfro Street when they saw the suspect leaving the bank. They started following on foot, and both were shot during the confrontation, police officials told NBC 5 (KXAS-TV).
The suspect was not injured and was taken into custody at the corner of Burleson Boulevard and E. Renfro Street, Burleson police Deputy Chief Chris Havens told NBC 5.
The detectives were transported to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.
Det. David Feucht was shot multiple times, city officials said. He was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth where he underwent surgery.
According to officials, Feucht, a 23-year veteran of the department, is in stable condition and expected to recover.
Det. Nick Grace, a 10-year veteran of the department, was shot in the leg and was released from the hospital Friday afternoon.
