LAS VEGAS — Dash camera video shows the moment a good Samaritan pulled over to help a deputy during a struggle with a suspect.

According to the Nye County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Jason Ruesch was responding to a disturbance call around 10:25 a.m. on June 10.

Ruesch told FOX5 the man was intoxicated and causing a scene outside of a casino when he asked the man to step out of the middle of the road. The man refused and about 15 seconds later, Ruesch said he found himself in a scuffle with the man trying to take the man into custody without injury.

“He started resisting and we ended up going to the ground… while I am trying to place him in custody, is when this bystander pulls in front and gets out of his truck and proceeds to help me,” Ruesch told FOX5.

With the help of the good Samaritan, Ruesch was able to take the man into custody without injury to himself or the suspect, the Nye County Sheriff’s Office said.

“Me personally, as the officer who needed the assistance, and I’m sure as the department, we would like to express our appreciation... He probably didn’t want the recognition. He is one of those types of people, and kind of the unrecognized hero,” Ruesch told FOX5.

Sheriff Joe McGill also thanked the good Samaritan for coming to Ruesch’s aid, stating the citizen’s selfless act helped bring the incident to a peaceful end.
