SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — A Scottsdale police officer fatally shot a suspect holding a child in the doorway of his home.
Tuesday night police responded to a 911 call that an armed man carrying a baby was threatening neighbors, according to MyFox Phoenix. Six officers arrived and during the confrontation that occurred, a man in his 50s was shot by a veteran officer who police say felt threatened. One bullet was discharged, sources say, killing the man at the scene. The child was not hurt.
“It’s getting dangerous out there for officers, Sgt. Mark Clark said. “There’s a lot of confrontations with subjects that are presenting deadly threats.”
The child is believed to be the suspect’s grandchild and is now with family, police said.
