WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. — Dash cam footage shows two suspects trying to evade police, running over an officer in the process before police gunfire ends the threat.
The six officers who fatally shot the two suspects in the January incident have been cleared, WMC 5 reports.
As seen in the released footage, officers shot 22-year-old Megan Rivera and 30-year-old De’Angelo Brown after an attempted traffic stop on Jan. 16.
Police say officers attempted to pull the car over because it had high beams and no plates. A pursuit ensued when the car didn’t stop.
Rivera, who was behind the wheel during the incident, rammed cruisers multiple times and ran over an officer’s legs. In the video, Brown can be seen raising his hands in the passenger’s seat before Rivera reverses the car and hits the officer.
That’s when six officers opened fire, killing Rivera and Brown.
Police later found that the car was stolen from a 72-year-old woman. There was also crack cocaine and a .22 rifle inside the vehicle.
The officer who was hit suffered major injuries to both legs.
