SAN DIEGO — San Diego Harbor Police officers shot a man on Sunday who pointed a gun at an officer in front of police headquarters. The man had asked for help using a callbox outside the station, but then drew a gun when an officer approached, FOX San Diego reported.
According to police, an officer approached a Honda Civic in the parking lot with a man inside. When the officer got close, the man pointed a handgun at the officer. The officer retreated and called for backup. The man continued to point the gun at officers from his vehicle, prompting three officers to open fire.
The unidentified suspect was critically wounded and arrested, police said. No one else was injured.
The incident remains under investigation.
