DALLAS -- Dallas police have released body camera footage from an incident in where officers shot a man brandishing what was later determined to be a replica handgun, KDFW reported.

The Jan. 7 incident began with six 911 calls reporting a man pointing a gun at vehicles near an elementary school, according to the report. Responding officers found the suspect aiming the gun at a person inside a car.

The man was struck and taken to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition, according to the report.

Police later identified the weapon as a Crosman revolver CO2 air pistol, a realistic replica handgun. The suspect is facing three counts of deadly conduct, with additional charges possible. No officers were injured during the incident.
