CERES, Calif. — The Ceres Police Department released body-worn camera footage showing an officer-involved shooting of a man who tried to stab a police officer, KCRA reported.

The critical incident briefing, released May 31, includes 911 audio from the May 10 incident.

According to 911 audio, a woman reported that a relative was threatening her husband with a flip-out knife outside of a home. Dispatchers confirmed the suspect had an outstanding warrant for multiple charges, including assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence, according to the report.

Security camera video shows the suspect running from the area, still holding the knife. Body-worn camera footage shows officers and a K-9 unit searching through yards until they find the suspect sitting in a vehicle.

The footage shows officers, with guns drawn, attempting to communicate with the suspect through a window and instructing him to raise his hands. The suspect can be seen raising one hand. The suspect then got out of the car and advanced toward an officer with the knife raised.

The officer can be heard crying out before several shots were fired.

“I think I got stabbed in my arm,” the officer is heard saying.

The video also shows officers administering first aid to the suspect. He was later pronounced dead, according to the report. A knife with a four-inch blade was recovered at the scene.
