NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio — A North Olmsted officer rammed a police cruiser into a suspect in a Starbucks armed robbery before the man turned and shot at the cruiser Monday morning, video shows.
The incident happened shortly before North Olmsted police shot Dominque Hullum, 30, who is accused of robbing the Starbucks and shooting at officers during ensuing car and foot chases.
Dashboard camera footage released by the North Olmsted Police Department on Tuesday morning shows an officer drive a police cruiser into the driveway of Bee Clean Car Wash on Dover Center Road, just north of the Starbucks. The video shows a man with a plastic bag running in front of the cruiser.
The unidentified officer backed the cruiser out onto Dover Center Road and followed the man as he continued to run down the road, the video shows.
The officer then pulled into a driveway of a storage business and rammed the man from behind with the cruiser, the video shows.
The man stumbled before he turned and pointed the gun at the officer, the video shows. He fired two shots at the cruiser’s windshield and ran away, the video shows.
Four shots can be heard off-camera as the man runs north with the bag and gun, video shows.

City officials did not disclose that an officer rammed the suspect with a cruiser in a Monday statement about the robbery and shooting.
Police said the robbery suspect fired at them on two separate occasions during the pursuit. It’s not clear from the video whether the suspect had shot at officers prior to being rammed with the cruiser.
Cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer reached out to North Olmsted police Sgt. Dan Barrett to ask about the department’s policy for ramming suspects during police pursuits, and whether officers tried to get the suspect to drop his gun before ramming him with the cruiser.
The man, later identified as Hullum, jumped into a brown Ford Focus and sped away sometime after the Starbucks robbery, according to a statement from city officials and police call logs.
Several officers chased the car until it stopped behind a home on Kingston Circle. Hullum is accused of exiting the car and shooting at officers. The officers returned fire and struck him, North Olmsted city spokesman Rick Haase previously said.
Hullum was taken to a hospital for treatment and remains in police custody. It’s unclear when he will make his first court appearance.
