ST. LUCIE COUNTY — A judge sentenced a cop killer to death for the February 2013 slaying of Deputy Sgt. Gary Morales, WPTV reported.
The sentence was read April 29 after a judge cited his reasons, including other court cases, for sentencing Eriese Tisdale to death. Before his sentence, Tisdale spoke to the court.
“I am truly regretful for being responsible for the pain that the (Morales family) has today,” he said. As he left the court, he said, “God will have the final say.”
After the sentence, other members of the sheriff’s office lined up in tribute to Morales’ family.
State attorneys told the news site they expect Tisdale will appeal the decision.
