Editor’s Note: Not every agency will have the words “hobble strap” in their P&P manual — in fact it may be a rare few that do — but for those who may benefit from this member-contributed tactical tip, we present it for your consideration.
I use my hobble strap as a leash when I make an arrest on someone who I believe is a flight risk. I take the clasp end of my hobble and connect it to the chain on the handcuffs. This gives you an extra hold on your prisoner. If he/she decides to run, they will not get far.
