NEW YORK — Video shared to TikTok shows NYPD officers surrounding a Dodge Charger and using their batons to bash in the windows. According to the New York Post, the occupants of the car had made off with more than $70,000 of goods from a boutique shop.
The officers had tried to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver refused to pull over and “recklessly drove through traffic,” police told the New York Post. Video shows the Charger reversing into the car behind it before officers surround the Charger and begin beating on the windows. Three people then get out of the car and are taken into custody, video shows.
Driver Janavia Marable, 29, Brianna Grier, 27, and Jahil Pamplin, 29, were all charged with grand larceny, reckless endangerment, fleeing an officer and resisting arrest, the report said.
The two women were known to police, having been arrested for a similar incident in February.
The investigation is ongoing.
