PLANT CITY, Fla. — Video captured Florida police officers and firefighters pulling a 25-year-old horse from thick mud.
Hillsborough County Fire Rescue responded to a call of a horse, Kiersa, trapped in the mud Monday, WFTS reported. Given the difficulty of the rescue, the Hillsborough County sheriff and the Polk County sheriff’s agriculture units were called as backup.
The rescue crews attempted to break the suction that was pulling Kiersa down, but didn’t succeed.
A vet who was called to the scene then sedated Kiersa so she wouldn’t injure herself or others, and she was finally rescued without injury using padded straps and a DPW Gradeall. Thirty minutes after Kiersa was placed back on solid ground, she awoke and was able to stand up.
Kiersa is recovering at home.
