COLUMBUS, Ohio — A Bexley police cruiser was hit 3 times by a woman trying to escape police after she ran a red light, then trapped herself in a driveway.
Sally E. Kurgis, 25, refused to stop for police after running a red light, according to NBC4i. She eventually pulled into a driveway around 2 a.m., laid on her horn and backed into the cruiser that pulled in behind her.
Dash cam video shows an officer exit the damaged cruiser and speak into his radio.
“She just backed into my cruiser,” the officer can be heard telling dispatch after giving his location.
Backup arrived, and Kurgis still refused to stop her vehicle or roll her window down to speak to police, who had surrounded the van. She hit the squad two more times before managing to escape the driveway and get back onto the road.
An officer was eventually able to stop Kurgis and she was arrested.
She is charged with OVI, a felony count of felonious assault, failure to stop after a crash, failure to comply, resisting a traffic enforcement official, reckless operation, and other traffic offenses.
The officer was not injured in the crash, according to the report.
