This week’s photo comes from Lt. Matthew Shearn of the Cleveland Metroparks Police Department in Cleveland, Ohio.

In this photo, courtesy of photographer Scott Tish, the CMPD’s Marine Unit escorts the commissioned USS St. Louis into the Port of Cleveland.

“The Port of Cleveland has been instrumental in the safe delivery of the US Navy’s Freedom Class, Littoral Combat Ships, built on the Great Lakes,” Shearn said. “The Cleveland Metroparks Police is just one of many agencies that assist in the protection of these ships as they cross Lake Erie. The Marine Unit was established in 2014 to provide law enforcement services, boater education, and search and rescue on Lake Erie.”

The Cleveland Metroparks Police Dept was established in 1921 and protects over 24,000 acres of land, road, and walking trails in the greater Cleveland area.
