KENT, Wash. — A carjacking spree was captured by helicopter footage, KOMO reported.
The Feb. 13 incident began when the Kent Police Department responded to a report of a stolen white SUV. The King County Sheriff’s Office helicopter was in the area and spotted the vehicle outside of a convenience store, according to the report.
The police department then sent officers to the scene. The suspects fled from officers, who were unable to initiate a pursuit due to legislative restrictions, according to the report.
Deputies kept track of the vehicle from the helicopter and tracked it as the suspect driver ditched the stolen vehicle and carjacked a Ford Explorer, according to the report. The carjacking gave the Kent Police Department probable cause to pursue the driver, according to the report.
The chase continued as the female passenger in the stolen white SUV fled, while the male suspect drove the Explorer, according to the report.
The male suspect in the Explorer later abandoned it to carjack a blue SUV, according to the report. The male suspect was then involved in a vehicle crash, where he was apprehended by Kent Police.
The female suspect driving the white SUV was involved in a rollover crash before fleeing on foot, according to the report. She was quickly apprehended by King County Sheriff’s Office deputies.
The two suspects have each been charged with several felonies, according to the report. No injuries resulting from the crashes were reported.
