TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. – Officers in Florida honored their fallen brother by escorting his daughter to her high school prom.
According to WKRC, Tarpon Springs officers saw it as their duty to stand in for Officer Charles Kondek Jr. on his daughter’s special day.
The department posted a series of photos of the welcome and escort to their Facebook page.
Officer Kondek Jr. was killed in the line of duty in December 2014. A fugitive trying to evade arrest shot the officer and ran him over with a vehicle, according to the Associated Press. The suspect was later arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
“It was an honor and privilege to be able to do this for Charlie as we know he would have been there himself,” the department wrote. “We will never forget.”
