MARICOPA COUNTY, Ariz. — A young girl is alive today thanks to a speedy response and quality CPR from a marine patrol crew. On Tuesday, bodycam manufacturer Axon released video of the dramatic rescue on a river in Arizona.
The bodycam video shows a marine patrol unit weaving between other boaters as officers rush to rescue an unconscious girl who nearly drowned, Axon said. In the video, officers are seen dodging tubers and kayakers on the crowded water.
The officers eventually pull alongside a bank where friends and family help load a young girl onto the rescue boat. Deputies take off again and perform CPR for the 8-minute ride back to shore where an ambulance is waiting, video shows. The girl lost consciousness twice on the boat ride back but is alive today thank to the patrol unit’s rescue efforts, the report said.
It was the patrol crew’s third water rescue that day, Axon said.
