COLUMBUS, Ohio — Officers are being praised after spotting a house fire while responding to an unrelated call and rushing in to rescue five residents, 10TV reported.
Body camera footage posted on Facebook by the Columbus Division of Police shows the blaze engulfing the front porch.
“Is there anybody else inside?” an officer asks. A woman coming out of the back door was breathing heavily, but eventually told the officer that there were more people upstairs.
At least three officers entered the home by breaking a window. They were able to evacuate four people from upstairs, the report stated.
Investigators are looking into how the fire started. They reported that there was no working fire alarms in the house.
