“Officer Jamal Mitchell, a hero, took his oath to the people of Minneapolis seriously—so seriously he sacrificed his life. When others run away from danger, police officers run towards it. Jamal literally went into a burning building on his third day as a police officer to save an elderly couple. That’s the kind of man he was,” said Minneapolis Chief of Police Brian O’Hara.

MINNEAPOLIS — In honor of fallen Minneapolis Police Officer Jamal Mitchell, country singer Gary Allan is giving away a VIP concert experience to help Mitchell’s family, fundraising platform Alltroo announced.

Proceeds from the fundraiser, which is held in partnership with radio station K102, will support Mitchell’s family through the Law Enforcement Labor Services Benevolent Fund, a nonprofit that helps families of Minnesota Public Safety Professionals who are seriously injured or killed in the line of duty.

This was a tragic loss for Minneapolis, but more importantly for Officer Mitchell’s family,” said Gary Allan. “It’s an honor and privilege to do what I can to rally the community together with the help of Alltroo and K102. Our hope for this campaign is to make the Mitchell family’s lives a little bit easier as they mourn the loss of such a heroic man.”

Mitchell was killed in the line of duty when he stopped to provide aid to someone who appeared to be injured. That man instead shot and killed Mitchell, Minneapolis Police said.

The fundraiser offers two VIP tickets to Allan’s show at Corcoran Country Daze in Osseo, Minn. on Aug. 17. The prize also includes a meet-and-greet with the singer, a chance to sit on the side of the stage, as well as transportation and hotel accommodations, Alltroo stated.

The sweepstakes ends July 26 and the winner will be announced on Aug 14. To enter, click here.
