A bestselling brand displayed its latest line of lightweight tactical pants during IACP 2012.
Visitors to the 5.11 Tactical booth were introduced to the TacLite Pro, which weighs in at 2.4 ounces less than the company’s previous designs.
“The weight difference is a big deal,” said a company spokesperson. “You can literally wear it in the hottest climate on the planet and stay comfortable.”
New to the TacLite Pro line is Teflon coating that acts as a buffer against liquids and stains such as coffee, and the pants’ design supposedly prevents the usual wear-and-tear to clothes that inevitably results from normal law enforcement job duties.
“Reinforced seams allow you to grab for a flashlight or knife without damage to the pockets,” the spokesperson said.
“And there are plenty of pockets.”
In addition to an inverted pleat pocket that allows for space if you need it, or lies flat if you don’t, small pockets line each side of the pant for “an ambidextrous setup.”
And for a perfect first item to carry, an A1 flashlight comes free with every two pairs of 5.11 pants purchased.
