DETROIT — The second motorcycle officer in a week has been injured in an accident while assigned to Vice President Joe Biden’s motorcade.
A Detroit officer’s motorcycle skidded Thursday on slick tar and loose gravel while escorting Biden to the city’s transportation headquarters for an event on public bus upgrades.
Sgt. Michael Woody says the 21-year veteran was wearing a helmet when his head hit the ground. He was in stable condition at a hospital.
Last week, a New York police motorcycle officer was injured while accompanying Biden’s motorcade to LaGuardia Airport. From the motorcade, he could be spotted face-down in blood as other officers attended to him. He was treated at a hospital.
Biden later called the NYPD officer to invite him to visit him in Washington after he recovers.
