Video: Garrett Industries Silent Thunder holster review

Notice in the video how Garrett Industries has managed to bond a high grade of leather to Kydex

Some carriers love leather, while others swear by Kydex. But what if you could have the best of both worlds? The Garrett Industries Silent Thunder line of holsters does exactly that.

Leather is obviously a great material for making holsters, but it can have its drawbacks. Garrett Industries has managed to minimize those drawbacks by bonding a high grade of leather to the Kydex.

According to the company, “The Silent Thunder line is a break-through in Kydex holsters and is our signature holster line. The Kydex outer shell provides excellent impact resistance as well as easy, one-handed reholstering. The inner bonded leather sheath cradles the firearm with smooth-side leather that is easy to maintain, SILENT, will not wick oil away from the weapon, forestalls finish wear and provides the smoothest draw possible with ANY holster. Inner shell is permanently attached through a process developed by Garrettt Industries.”

I have made the Garrett my daily CCW (with full sized Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm) for some months now, and I can say it has quickly become one of my favorites.

The Silent Thunder Holster Line is available as Inside the Waistband (IWB) and Outside the Waistband (OWB).

In the video to the right, I review the OWB version. I can’t vouch for the IWB as I have not used one, and to be honest, I just not an IWB kind of guy.

I hope this brief review is useful for those looking for a top of the line CCW OWB holster for any off-duty LEO or dedicated civilian.
