Tactical clothing is always hot at SHOT Show and this year was no exception. I got a chance to see several products that deserve notice for law enforcement use, including the latest new stuff from XGO.
XGO products are designed for next-to skin-comfort for readability. Their garments are of excellent quality and they are a Berry Compliant business.
Back at SHOT Show 2007, I walked up to Randy Black of Longworth Industries and asked, “What’s new?”
Randy handed me an XGO pullover (FR Men’s Zip Mock), which is made of a flame-retardant fabric. He told me to try it out and let him know how it worked for me.
So, what’s new at XGO this time around?
FR Mesh, a flame-retardant, hyper-breathable material that can be used in warm and cold-weather environments as a sub-layer or a standalone. These products are generously cut and allow a full range of motion.
Even the long-sleeve version weighs next to nothing. This is a great hot-weather product for under the vest.
The other new product line is their Power Skins technical mesh material (not flame retardant). This is another lightweight material that is very stretchy and is perfect for cranking out miles when it’s scorching.
The garment design itself is for optimizing athletic activities through muscle alignment.
I like technical fabric products for endurance sports. Many similar designs don’t use AG47 antimicrobial treatment, which makes XGO stuff unique.
A couple of good workouts in the cheap stuff should be enough for your real friends to convince you to go with XGO.
OK, the rest of the story: I still have the FR Zip Mock. I have run and cycled with it hundreds of times. I’ve dumped coffee on it and taken some pretty good spills on my bike in it.
It launders better (blood generally washes out — yup, I found this out, too), breathes better, and maintains temperature better than anything I have tried.
Most importantly, it still looks like new, which explains why my daughter has been doing her cold weather runs in it.
