HAWTHORNE, Calif. — Some police departments have started adding Tesla Model Y’s and other electric vehicles to their fleets. Now, Tesla Cybertrucks could be next.
UP.FIT, a division of Unplugged Performance that upfits Teslas for fleet use, unveiled a Tesla Cybertruck patrol vehicle in early June. UP.FIT states the Cybertruck patrol vehicle features upgraded radio and computer systems, a suite of warning lights and a PA system.
The Cybertruck can be customized for various missions, including tactical, military or search and rescue operations, according to UP.FIT.
The interior of the Cybertruck can be customized to include prisoner partitions, weapon and specialty tool storage, K-9 enclosures, and enhanced vehicle dynamics with specialized UP.FIT Forged wheel and tire packages. Additionally, it offers advanced braking systems, optional upgrades for extreme off-road use and Starlink internet connectivity.
“The UP.FIT Cybertruck Next-Gen Patrol vehicle represents a significant engineering leap into the future and we’re excited to offer law enforcement agencies the future of policing,” said Ben Schaffer, CEO of Unplugged Performance. “We’ve been thrilled with the direct feedback from police departments that have participated in our Cybertruck development and we look forward to deploying these complete UP.FIT vehicles to law enforcement agencies across the nation this year,” he said.
Along with offering upfitted electric vehicles for law enforcement use, UP.FIT offers training and behind-the-wheel experiences for field training officers, EVOC instructors and technical maintenance staff.

The Cybertruck has started making appearances. The Dubai Police Department announced on X that it added a Cybertruck to its tourist luxury patrol fleet.
Elon Musk, the co-founder and CEO of Tesla, responded to the post with an emoji and commented, “Cool.”

The Dubai Police Department is giving the public a chance to explore and take photos with its Cybtertruck at a community event on June 18.
