Ford has released a series of videos showing how its new Police Interceptor Sedan and Police Interceptor Utility live up to the legacy of the discontinued Crown Victoria Police Interceptor.
In the videos, Ford representatives explain how many of the parts are upgraded for police interceptor duty in an attempt to meet or exceed the Crown Victoria’s durability. The new Police Interceptors improve on the Crown Victoria’s fuel economy, performance, and safety. Both new Fords come with V-6 engines and all-wheel drive. The engines, which have been tuned for more response, can run on E85 or gasoline.
Braking is also important for the police interceptors. Front and rear rotors are larger and thicker for better heat dissipation. Ford uses the same calipers, rotors and pads, as well as wheel and tire package on both the sedan and utility. The drivetrains are virtually identical with only a few different components to make service and maintenance easier.
