Video: 14-year-old in stolen vehicle loses control on snowy roads, is arrested following pursuit

After losing control of the vehicle, the suspect attempted to flee from Kalamazoo, Mich. PD officers on foot, but was quickly apprehended

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – A 14-year-old male was arrested after leading police on a two-minute pursuit through Kalamazoo neighborhoods in a stolen vehicle, officials said.

A Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officer identified a stolen 2007 Mercury Milan near Drake Road and West Michigan Avenue at 1:40 p.m. on Jan. 6.

The officer attempted a traffic stop, but the driver fled. He led officers on a pursuit on Driftwood Avenue and Arboretum Parkway. The driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with a light pole on Arboretum Parkway , sending the vehicle off the road.

The juvenile attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by KDPS officers.

The suspect sustained a minor injury and was treated at a local hospital before being transported to the Kalamazoo County Juvenile Home.

Portage Public Safety assisted KDPS at the scene.
