Watch: Fla. woman steals ambulance, leads deputies on pursuit with emergency lights activated

Lee County deputies used the vehicle’s GPS to track it, finding it at a gas station before initiating a pursuit and arresting the female suspect

LEE COUNTY, Fla. — A Fort Myers woman was arrested for allegedly stealing an ambulance from Golisano Children’s Hospital in Florida, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

On the morning of June 20, deputies used the ambulance’s onboard GPS to track the rig to a RaceTrac Gas Station on Summerlin Road Deputies then confronted the driver, identified as a 31-year-old woman, FOX 35 reported.

The woman then fled from the gas station, driving the ambulance erratically and nearly flipping it, deputies reported. When a deputy approached the ambulance during a brief stop, she sped away with the emergency lights activated.

The woman was arrested after the ambulance stopped at South Tamiami Trail and Island Park Road. She faces charges including grand theft of a motor vehicle, fleeing, and other offenses.
