ST. LOUIS — A St. Louis police officer who moonlights as an MMA fighter dedicated a recent fight win to a fallen brother in blue.
When Ashley “Smashley” Cummins is not working with the St. Louis County Police Department, she’s fighting in the MMA ring as fighter in the Atomweight division, according to sherdog.com.
Cummins won a fight Saturday that she dedicated to her friend, co-worker and fallen brother in blue, Officer Blake Snyder. Snyder, 33, was fatally shot point-blank while responding to a disturbance call on Oct. 6, the Associated Press reported.
“I fought tonight in his honor, in his name. Because a hero remembered never dies,” she said in a video posted to her Facebook.

Cummins took to her Instagram yesterday to respond to messages and emails about how the public can help fallen LEOs.
She mentioned that Backstoppers “has done so much to help Blake’s wife and two year old son and several other families of fallen heroes.” She posted a link to the Gary Sinise Foundation as well.
“My entire motivation throughout my training camp was getting Officer Blake Snyder’s story out to the world,” she wrote on Instagram. “Blake is one of countless officers who have lost their lives while protecting others, and it’s important to me that they are forever remembered as heroes.”
