NEW YORK — A team of NYPD officers rescued a woman perched 54 stories high on the side of a skyscraper in Midtown Manhattan, the Daily Mail reported.
Captured by body cameras, the May 1 rescue was shared on the NYPD’s social media, showing officers with the Emergency Services Unit using ropes and pulleys to secure the distraught woman.
“We’re right here! We’re not going anywhere!” one officer assured her as the team arrived.
Video shows officers on the roof holding tightly to the woman’s arm. Officers connected to the pulley system carefully maneuvered her from the ledge back to safety.
“Stand her up. Lift her up, and I want her leg over,” an officer said as they assisted her over the protective barrier.
“If you, or someone you know are experiencing a crisis, know that you are not alone. Help is available, and you have options,” the NYPD posted on X.
When the public needs help, they call the police. When the police need help, they call ESU. @NYPDSpecialops ESU detectives recently saved a distraught woman on a rooftop 54-stories up using their rope rescue skills.
