LOS ANGELES —Collin Davis, a Sierra Madre Search and Rescue volunteer, is grappling with the loss of his home after the Eaton Fire ravaged Altadena last week, NBC 4 Los Angeles reported.

The night the fire broke out, Davis left his home to respond to the needs of his search and rescue team, according to the report.
“When the team pages, you know you have to automatically respond to it,” Davis told NBC 4.

Returning the following day, he found his home still engulfed in flames.
“When I left, I don’t know why, I thought I was going to come back to my house.”

Despite the devastation, Davis expressed gratitude for the support he has received from family, friends, and strangers alike.

“Our natural job is to help other people,” he said. “So, it’s been really hard to let people help you.”

After living in Altadena for 20 years and in his now-destroyed home for the past year, Davis remains committed to rebuilding.

“It was a really beautiful place to live. People are great, and I want the best for them,” he said
